I Just Learned the Trick for Removing Celery Strings

This technique couldn’t be simpler. Start by washing your celery and trimming the stalk. Cut it in half crosswise, which makes the strings easier to pull in one piece.

At the cut end, use the edge of a paring or small knife to catch just beneath the ends of the strings. Hold the strings between the flat of the knife and your thumb, then gently pull toward the opposite end of the stalk. The strings peel away in long, thin strips, leaving the celery itself intact. Repeat as necessary around the outside of the stalk.
