I tried it, and sure enough, off they came. It takes only a few seconds per piece once you get the hang of it, and there’s something disproportionately gratifying about seeing an entire string pull free in one piece.

Am I about to start de-stringing the celery that disappears into every pot of soup I make? Absolutely not. But for celery I’m serving raw or chopping into a salad, where its crunch is welcome but its dental floss tendencies are not, I’m officially converted. I only wish I knew this sooner!
