Is There a Correct Direction for an Electrical Outlet?
This is where the answer gets a little more complicated.
There isn’t one universal rule that says every standard receptacle must have the ground opening facing up or facing down.
Electrical codes and installation requirements can vary by jurisdiction and by the type of installation.
In many ordinary residential applications, either orientation may be acceptable when the receptacle is properly installed.
So if your outlets are all oriented one way, you don’t necessarily need to rotate them.
And if one happens to be the other way, that doesn’t automatically mean there’s a problem.
