with no obvious reason for it. A yellow Lab with a bright pink tongue and a handful of black spots may look unusual, but unusual does not automatically mean unhealthy.
- The groomer didn’t cause it
The timing can make this seem suspicious. You pick the dogs up, they’re freshly brushed, their ears are clean, and suddenly one detail jumps out that you swear you’ve never noticed. But groomers do not create pigment spots by bathing, brushing, blow-drying, or trimming nails.
What usually happened is simpler: the dog is cleaner, brighter, and easier to photograph than usual. After a bath, yellow coats reflect more light, and a panting dog with a fully extended tongue gives you a much clearer view than the quick glance you get at home. I’ve seen this with pets after grooming, vet visits, and even after a long walk when they’re happily grinning in the driveway.
