- Your Breakfast May Keep You Fuller
This is probably the most noticeable reason some people enjoy eggs in the morning. - Eggs Can Make Breakfast More Nutrient-Dense
One of the things I like most
with some lower-protein breakfast alternatives.
In one controlled study, people who ate an egg breakfast reported greater satiety and subsequently consumed less energy at lunch than people who ate an isocaloric bagel breakfast.
Another randomized study found that an egg-based breakfast produced greater overall satiety than a cereal-based breakfast in the study conditions.
But here’s the important part:
Eggs don’t guarantee that you’ll eat less later.
Other research has found that when breakfasts were matched more closely for protein quantity and calories, the difference in appetite or later food intake was much smaller.
So the takeaway isn’t “eat eggs and you’ll automatically lose weight.”
It’s that a protein-rich breakfast may help some people feel satisfied for longer.
