In a properly wired system, the grounding connection is part of the electrical safety system.

So when someone installs a receptacle with the ground opening on top, they’re not changing which part is “hot” or “neutral.”

They’re simply changing the physical orientation of the receptacle.

Does Installing an Outlet Upside Down Make It Safer?
