Salt in the Toilet
If you want to try this as an occasional cleaning experiment, keep it simple.
You don’t need half a bag of salt.
You don’t need to leave it sitting overnight.
And you definitely don’t need to combine it with a handful of other household chemicals.
Step 1: Flush the Toilet
Start with a clean flush so the bowl is relatively clear of loose debris.
If the toilet already has visible buildup, you’ll get better results by cleaning the bowl normally first.
Step 2: Sprinkle a Small Amount of Salt
Sprinkle roughly ½ to 1 cup of ordinary table salt around the inside of the bowl, particularly over areas with light surface residue.
There’s no advantage to dumping an enormous quantity into the toilet.
More salt doesn’t automatically mean more cleaning power.
