The metal touched something firm.
Gideon’s fingers tightened around the edge of the table.
She pulled.
Nothing.
Rosalie adjusted her grip.
Then she pulled again.Something suddenly came loose.A long, black object slid out of Gideon’s ear and fell into the porcelain bowl with a faint click.
Rosalie froze.
Gideon stared into her face, unable to hear the sound.
Then they both looked down.
