- Coffee Beans
If you’ve been putting your coffee beans in the refrigerator, stop for a second. - Cooking Oils
Many common cooking oils don’t need to be refrigerated.
onion = pantry
Cut onion = refrigerator
Easy enough!
Coffee is sensitive to moisture, heat, light, and oxygen.
The refrigerator can expose coffee to moisture and odors from other foods, potentially compromising its flavor and aroma.
Better coffee storage
Keep coffee beans in a tightly sealed, opaque container in a cool, dry, dark place.
And there’s no need to keep opening and closing the container unnecessarily.
For everyday use, a good airtight container in a kitchen cupboard is a much better choice than the refrigerator.
What about the freezer?
Freezing coffee can be useful for longer-term storage when done properly, especially if you have more beans than you’ll use soon.
But repeatedly moving coffee in and out of cold storage isn’t ideal.
