Properties of cloves in the treatment of cancer
Antioxidants:
Dandelion extracts, tested for their antioxidant properties on isolated human cells (in vitro), demonstrated a neutralizing effect on free radicals. They also helped reduce DNA strand breaks. Furthermore, leaf extracts are rich in polyphenols, which possess potent antioxidant properties. Cancer is thought to be caused by DNA damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants combat oxidative damage caused by free radicals by preventing their formation and neutralizing them before they can damage cells.
Vitamin K:
Dandelion and its extracts are also rich in vitamin K. This is reassuring, as this nutrient can significantly reduce the risk of cancer.
How does this alternative herbal remedy perform in clinical studies? Most studies have been conducted in vitro—that is, on cells isolated from the body and tested under controlled laboratory conditions—or on animals. The results are positive. However, not many clinical studies have been conducted with humans yet. Further clinical studies and human studies are needed to definitively confirm the effectiveness of dandelion root in treating cancer. Below are the benefits of dandelion root in treating various types of cancer.
Dandelion Root Benefits in Cancer Treatment
1. Helps kill colon cancer cells
In vitro studies have shown that DRE induces selective programmed cell death, or apoptosis, in more than 95% of colon cancer cells. In vivo studies using mouse models have shown that oral administration of DRE can slow the growth of these cells by more than 90%. Treatment with DRE activates multiple cell death pathways in activated cancer cells.
2. Can Cure Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic cancer currently has a 100% mortality rate, so any potential treatment is welcome. Rectal therapy has been shown to induce autophagy (the body's natural self-destruction mechanism) and apoptosis in human pancreatic cancer cells, without significantly damaging healthy cells. Scientists see this as a promising advancement in the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
